Joe Gabriel is a dynamic Director of Photography whose diverse platform of work includes feature films, television, commercials, and documentaries. A graduate of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, he began his career as the lead cinematographer for NBC’s in house production agency. During his time at NBC Universal he worked on a variety of multi-million dollar worldwide campaigns including The Olympics, the launch of Project Runway, The Apprentice, and the award winning campaign introducing Lester Holt as the anchor of NBC Nightly News.
Eager to broaden his credits behind the camera, he left NBC after five years. Since then, he has traveled around the world shooting campaigns for Merck, Victoria’s Secret, Revlon, Sephora, AT&T and many others. Being passionate about a good story, Joe added independent film to his slate, shooting the documentary feature Brothers on the Line, the action/fantasy The Crimson Mask, and the political drama Sweet Lorraine starring Tatum O’Neal. He has continued to work in television on various projects for MTV, Discovery and the Sundance channel. His most recent series Brain Games for National Geographic Channel received an Emmy Nomination for Outstanding Informational Series.
