JOE GABRIEL
DIRECTOR/DP
Joe Gabriel began his career with a wind-up film camera shooting behind the scenes on Saturday Night Live. A graduate of NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, Joe cut his teeth as the East Coast DP for NBC’s in-house creative agency. His work was seen in multi-million dollar campaigns across NBC Universal including the Olympics and the MSNBC “Lean Forward” brand campaign directed by Spike Lee. A desire to work on long form content lead him to the freelance world, where he was the series DP for the Emmy-nominated series "Brain Games" on National Geographic Channel, and the Netflix original science series "Brainchild" produced by Pharrell Williams. Moving between doc and narrative, Joe lensed the award-winning feature film “The Crimson Mask” and indie comedy “Sweet Lorraine” starring Tatum O’Neal and Steven Bauer. Comfortable directing crews on large studio sets or in the field as a solo documentary filmmaker, Joe’s passion for visual storytelling has taken him around the world, working with brands including AT&T, Anheuser Busch, Merck, GE, Sephora and Ralph Lauren. When he’s not traveling the globe, Joe can usually be found on the F train taking his kids to school.
